caring for your boards

Clean with a mild detergent and water, rinsing and drying immediately.  Set the board on its edge and allow it to dry overnight.  Do not leave the boards submerged in water.   

Store your boards in an upright position if possible.   We design our boards to be an attractive addition to your kitchen, so showcasing on the countertop is always a great idea.  This reduces the chance of one side getting wet from spills.  Water is the enemy here - if one side is dry and the other becomes soaked, the uneven drying can cause the board to warp.  Many choose to hang our Harvest Boards on the wall, another great options.  

Regular treatment with a beeswax based product (like our Board Butter) keeps the boards looking great and also helps to keep them water repellent.  When the board is dry, simply rub the board thoroughly, allow to dry overnight, and buff the next day.  

Pro tip:  To add an extra layer of protection, lightly melt the board butter with a hair dryer and allow the wax and mineral oil to soak into the wood.
